It is rumored that the one and only John Galliano, yes, John Galliano (not a typo) will once again dictate this season’s “it” fashion. The winds of change have swept Galliano into the creative director position at Maison Martin Margiela. Was it fate or pure chance?
Since his termination at Christian Dior, Galliano aided in designing commercialized American Pret-a-Porter alongside Oscar de la Renta. Not long after, Galliano tapped Russian Perfumery and Cosmetic giant serving as the brand’s creative director.
Recently, Renzo Rosso took one of fashion’s leading knight in shining armor and placed him back into his rightful position.
Rosso claims “Margiela is ready for a new charismatic, creative soul. John Galliano is one of the greatest, undisputed talents of all time — a unique, exceptional couturier for a maison that always challenged and innovated the world of fashion. I look forward to his return to create that fashion dream that only he can create and wish him here to find his new home.”
Well, one thing is clear. His controversial image will be sure to attract media attention and his flamboyant style always wins over the crème de la crème of fashion elites.
For those who doubt; Galliano is said to have made amends with the Jewish community and addressed his alcohol issues by attending rehab, so that pretty much snuffs out any possibility of him becoming a public relations disaster.
It is also confirmed that Galliano has gathered his muse, team, and other collaborates together. He is ready to steal the spotlight with confidant Vanessa Bellanger, Alexandre Roux, Rafaele Hardy and Jean-Yves Mustiere. The Margiela team is said to include current Margiela employees as well as some new rising stars.
We know that Galliano has a few tricks up his sleeves. So, as he casts his spell, we hope to transform from a pumpkin and win over the heart of the handsome prince with a pair of Margiela’s modern version of glass slippers along with a gown fit for a ball this upcoming season.
We know he will deliver.
